You’ve heard me say it 1000 times and you’ll hear me say it 1000 more. If at the end of the day, you get to marry the one you love, nothing else matters. It’s not the size and style of your centerpieces or the selections at your bar that make your day beautiful and memorable, it’s the love you share. Nothing is more beautiful than the smile on your face and the glistening excitement in your eyes to be marrying the one you love.
Jessica and Tripp’s Columbia, South Carolina, wedding is absolutely gorgeous – a perfect rustic venue with stunning flowers and lush greens surrounding the property. But, none of that holds a candle to how happy and in love this beautiful couple is. To hear their photographer, Jessica Hunt, talk about their day is to feel like you’re experiencing their love first hand. So, instead of telling you all the things I love about this day (there’s so many!), I’m going to let Jessica indulge us with the details and the happy couple share their story and the details of their planning below.

The Chickawa Outdoor Center is a unique and beautiful venue right inside the Saluda River Club in Lexington, SC, and the day I’m happily showcasing here did not disappoint. I am honored to show you a few of my favorite images from this beautiful Chickawa Outdoor Center wedding.
Tripp and Jessica initially met online. Once they finally met in person, their love bloomed. Tripp asked Jessica to marry him while they were on a walk together and the rest is history! Under a setting sun, Jessica and Tripp said their “I do’s” in front of a gathering of their family and friends. Now they are a week and a few days married, and I am so excited to be showing off their full day.
As we were planning their photography coverage for this Chickawa Outdoor Center wedding, Jessica made sure to preserve her reveal moment to Tripp until their ceremony. She assured me he would have an emotional reaction, and Jessica was not wrong. As soon as he saw her on her daddy’s arm, he smiled with this sweet, sheepish smile and tears welled in his eyes. It was such a beautiful and touching moment, y’all. When I went back and edited the images from Tripp’s reaction, I even found tears in MY eyes! You can just see how much he loves, cherishes, and respects Jessica—it’s just so beautiful.
I hope you enjoy my favorites from Jessica and Tripp’s Chickawa Outdoor Center Wedding. Congratulations, Tripp and Jessica!!

Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette? Did you incorporate any cultural or religious traditions in any part of your day? The colors we chose for our wedding were blush and navy. We wanted the decor to be rustic and chic without going overboard. So we went for a minimalist look 🙂
Let’s talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception? Was any part of the decor DIY? Several of the signs we made ourselves. We wanted to decorate the tables with lanterns and lots of candles! The reception had draping done inside the venue which completed our rustic chic look we were going for!
What were the florals like in your wedding? Did you use flowers in any of your design elements like the bridal bouquets, centerpieces or ceremony backdrop? Did they play an important part in the overall style of your wedding? The main flower we used was baby’s breath. This was used in all of the arrangements! The bridal bouquet also had spray roses and hydrangeas, and there were also beautiful white hydrangeas in the centerpieces.
Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment etc.)? What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding? We had a hearty hometown restaurant do our buffet meal. It was amazing BBQ from Hudson’s Catering. I also loved our photo booth pictures we got of our guests. The indoor/outdoor reception was also nice. My favorite part of the wedding was definitely receiving our pictures from Jessica. The day/night went SO fast that going over all of our pictures was like living the day all over again.
Let’s talk fashion. How did you choose your wedding day look? How did the groom? Describe both looks in detail. I honestly thought I would end up wearing a very classy but more on the plain side dress. However, I ended up getting something COMPLETELY opposite! I tried on a heavily beaded, Kenneth Winston, ivory with champagne underlay gown and fell in love. I got so many compliments on my gown and felt so beautiful! Tripp went with a navy suit from Mens Wearhouse with white shirt and blush tie.
How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal. We swiped right!!! 🙂 We are both full time working adults who had little time to go out and meet people. We took a chance and were able to meet our perfect partner online. After a whirlwind romance he proposed on a nature walk by the water and completely caught me off guard. We were engaged for one year before making it official!
What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day? I think my most anticipated moment was our sparkler send off. I was so excited about it and couldn’t wait to see the pictures that Jessica got.
Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day? If I had any advice for anyone on their wedding day, it would be to not sweat the small stuff. No matter how many hours you put into planning nothing is fool proof. Whether it is BIG or SMALL something will not go as you planned. But there is no use dwelling on it, at the end of the day you will be married to your best friend and you just need to go with it. Also, at some point during your reception you and your partner should sneak away even if it is just for 5 minutes. Just the two of you to take a quick break. The day is going to go incredibly fast and before you know it you will be waking up saying “Oh man, its over!” So enjoy every moment! It will be an amazing memory for you!
